got it working. I totally forgot to specify the layer break (ie. 1913760) in the write menu of Image Burn and now it works fine. It really sucks that I had to make some coasters to find that out. Thanks for the help guys.

thanks for the replies. I flashed the 360 again, which went very well, and it has worked like a dream ever since. And to answer the other question I have been using only Verbatim as backup media.
