The main reason behind is to reduce the disk scratching complaints as the problem is still there in many consoles (including mine)....plus it is very costly to run a Disk Replacement program that MS is running right now...... I'm not a insider but heh put yourself in a situation that MS is facing ri...

LightScribe Disk may not be a problem but to be on a safe side it is not recommend. But I think LighScribing won't increase the disk thickness .... Also DL LightScribe disk are not available everywhere and cost some extra bucks.
