Re: Dummy.bad/iPrep
you could try a new cable. Try using Jungle Flasher. I use that and it works 98% of the time. The other 2% I get a half brick and have to use the other way. Watch this on the Jungle Flasher: http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=195&t=3357" onclick="window.open(thi...

Re: Dummy.bad/iPrep
Hmm....Are you using an RS232 cable or usb? It sounds like to me that the pc isn't getting the information correctly. Yes i am using the RS232 cable. So could replacing that cable fix it? Is there anything else i could look for that might also back the idea that the RS232 cable is bad? sounds like ...

Dummy.bad/iPrep
Ive attempted to dump my liteon multiple times but i keep getting the same 6 files: DUMMY.BAD, DUMMY.BIN, IDENTIFY.BIN, INQUIRY.BIN, KEY.BIN, AND LITCFW.BIN I was suspicious of the DUMMY.BAD file, so i opened the actual Dummy.bin in JungleFlasher. It detected it was missing info and asked to rebuild...

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Is it normal to have a file named "DUMMY.BAD" in the back ups folder? The other 5 Files are there. What the hells that? lol. Before you go any further (unless you've already flashed the blighter) i'd recommend loading the dummy.bin into jungleflasher and make sure it reports as valid as i...

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Thought i would give you all an update. I successfully got it. Only one question. Is it normal to have a file named "DUMMY.BAD" in the back ups folder? The other 5 Files are there. If it interests anyone: Open dLit.bat from the root of the USB. In the line "DosFlash LITEON K 1 inquiry...

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Strange, as cofree said, iprep isn't designed to work on 64 bit os'. If all else fails get the 6421 card (or a pc with a compatible sata port) and definitely use a 32 bit os and you'll be sorted in no time. That sounds like what i will have to do :( But the good thing is if its got the wrong port n...

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Did you not use one of the xp machines to do the Sammy though? I'd recommend ordering the Via card (cheap enough on ebay and it'll work straight away with iprep) and using an xp machine and you'll be up and running in no time. Oh and try another sata cable too. No i used my Vista 64bit to do the sa...

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Use the primary one with nothing else attached through sata. (to be safe its also worth disconnecting everything else attached to the mb including the ide's) For the easiest way its worth ordering a Via 6421 sata card but as you've flashed a sammy previously you should be ok with iprep. I need to f...

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Oh ok i gotcha now.
So could i use an iPrep that was made on another 32bit machine without a SATA port and use it on the computer with the SATA port?
Or for that mater run something under 32bit linux?

Re: Lite-on/iprep trouble
Might be worth trying your r232 cable in another comport to check thats it not kaput (as only the liteons require this which may explain why you've been able to flash other makes). Also go into your bios and check that they're set to automatic and not disabled. Whats "kaput"? and what am ...
