I'm using Windows 7 for this exact feature, except I'm using my laptops wireless to pull internet from my hotel and share it through my ethernet port to my xbox. There's an actual share this connection button in the properties of the wireless network adapter. That did it for me.

Dude if it was that easy we'd all be doing it. But Microsft has checks built into the Xbox's OS that check the DVD first before loading a game. JTAG allows it because it emulates the dvd drive therefore the Xbox thinks there's a disc in the drive.
