FTP to PS3 without being connected to internet?

Post by he-man »

On the 360 you can deny access to XboxLive (in Parental Settings section) and still connect to your home network via Freestyle Dash. Can I do something similar on the PS3? No, I don't mean connect to Freestyle Dash

I'm on Kmeaw 3.55 cfw and not bothered about playing on the PSN network.
Well, basically I'm wondering if I can deny my PS3 access to the internet and still use the FTP fuction to transfer data to the PS3.

Thanks!

As soons as you disable internet connection then there's no IP address for the managers to pick-up and you can't connect to network...
I think I need to change the DNS settings but I'm not to sure what it should be.

You'd probably need to do it on the router side. Deny your mac address of your ps3 internet access, but allow network access. My router is incapable of this I was looking into doing that for a 360 of mine. However you might be able to with your router.

JUST UNCHECK THE AUTO SIGN IN BOX AND REMEMBER PASSWOED ON THE PSN SIGN IN PAGE THEN YOU WILL BE ONLINE BUT NOT ON PSN YOU WILL EVEN STILL BE ABLE TO GET YOUR GAME UPDATES THAT WAY...........REMEMBER THE EMAIL THEY JUST SENT OUT IF THEY START BANNING ITS JUST A BAN FROM PSN BUT YOU WONT BE ON PSN TO GET BANNED

Thanks for the replies. Unplugging the cable is easy enough but a bit of a pain. I'd like to leave it connected to my network so I'll try the MAC block suggestion.
Auto sign-in is already disabled if I'm not mistaking but I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to these things.
Better safe than sorry (banned).

EDIT:
Found this on PS3-hacks
1. Set up a internet connection on your PS3.
2. Set the DNS 1 and DNS 2 to 1.1.1.1 (This will stop you from connecting to sony and the internet to avoid a ban but still allow you to FTP over a network)
3. Install Blackb0x on you PS3.
4. Install FlashFXP to your PC.
5. Run Blackb0x on your PS3 and it will display your PS3's IP number.
6. Type the IP number into FlashFXP, select port 21 and press connect.

The way I heard it,is Sony was kind enough to include a rootkit in their FW. I sends everything you have done, back to Sony,When you go back on the internet for a game update,or what ever, they got you.

Well apparently the rootkit was fake but that's just what I've read. I don't intent to play any PS3 games online so even if the rootkit turns out to be true it's not really going to effect me.

By the way the DNS settings I've mentioned works perfect. I can still FTP data to my PS3 but the console can't connect to the Internet or PSN. Keeps getting a DNS error... weird

Well if there was a root kit people would probably be up in arms.

Look at that DRM that sony had made a little while back which was basically a root kit. They were in big trouble...

well call me crazy
but
i think ps3,360 and the wii
can see what you console has been doing,or doing (if its ping able)
i dont thing ill go as far as calling it a root kit
as far as there concerned they have the right to look in YOUR console
anytime they want

im convinced that M$ does it even to consoles that have been banned but are still hook up to the net

Well they know forsure what your doing, watching a video playing a game using facebook etc.

I remember a little while back they released some stat like 40% of xbox use is for gaming, while the other 60% is lastfm, media center sky tv facebook netflix etc etc...

How would they know that stat unless they were monitoring us :D

I think I'll try this dns thing on my xbox see if it stops it from connecting to the live servers.

It just p's me off to think that they (M$, Sony, etc) can "see" what we are doing. I can't even begin to think how the people with young kids (like CoFree) must be feeling. Might be a good idea to try the DNS settings on a Xbox.

Everyone is constantly watched all the time, if you walk around in public your captured on hundred's of cameras, your ISP monitor's everything you do on the internet your phone provider can monitor your calls etc etc. It sucks but thats our society :(

For me, thinking of being monitored when on my xbox or whatever it bothers me mildly but I just accept it, guess it's cause ive always grown up knowing someone is always watching... If your doing something bad you'll somehow end up getting caught.

First of all your PS3 is auto sensing and so is your PC probably so use a regular cable.

Then disable the firewall on your pc.

Give your pc a static adress:

IP: 10.0.0.1
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0

Give your ps3 a static adress:

IP: 10.0.0.2
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0

Insert a cable between the lan port of your PC and the lan port of your PS3.
Click start run on your pc and type cmd.

Type ipconfig /all. Check if your pc is effectively at 10.0.0.1.

If that is ok type ping 10.0.0.2.

If you get a response your PS3 answers.

Also make sure you use the correct port in flashfxp and disable pasv.

ftp://FTPD12345:ok@10.0.0.2:21/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you follow this step by step it MUST work otherwise you are not doing it correctly.
