Install WAD files after the October 08 Update

Post by sadalius »

If you installed the latest update (10/08) from Nintendo on your Wii and you liked playing around with installing wad files, it probably didn't take you long to find out that you couldn't install them any longer because using trucha signed stuff doesn't work. Now there is a work around. It's not very complicated, but as with anything, use at your own risk.

What you will need:
1. Wii Backup Disk v1.3 (Pink fish disk) (Google is your friend on this one, we can't host it here.)
2. WAD Manager v1.3
3. WAD Mananger for IOS16
4. CIOS_fix wad file. (Again, google is your friend here)
5. Wiiscrubber (You will need the key.bin file for wiiscrubber to work. Again, google for it!)

You can download those separately, or you can download everything except for the Wii Backup Disk, Wiiscrubber+key and the CIOS_fix wad file HERE.

Once you have the files downloaded, you'll want to extract everything, then use Wiiscrubber to extract the IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad file from the Wii Backup Disk. To do this, first open the iso with Wiiscrubber, the click the + sign next to "Partition:1 - UPDATE", and then the + sign again next to _sys
Right click on this filename, and click on "Save as" and save it to a WADS directory on your SD card.

Next use WAD Manager v1.3 to install this wad file. It's not trucha signed, but officially signed by Nintendo, so it will install with no problems.

Now use WAD Manager for IOS16 to install CIOS_fix wad file. You should be able to install any wad that you'd like at this point.

Then from there you can run Waninkoko's Downgrader if you so desired to.

All set and ready to go!!
