Spoof Samsung ms28 into a liteon motherboard

Post by chris.redfield »

I have purchased the xtractor....check
purchased samsung ms28...check
sata cable, usb cable, power y cable all set to go...check
xbins iprep 101 v006 with ms28 ixdef update...check

I set the bios which is bzb7510A.86A.0123.p33 to boot off the A: drive first.

plug in samsung to pc (dont know which motherboard i have but it has legacy mode and enhanced mode. in enhanced mode i can see the samsung drive. when i use the xtractor tools i search for sata ports and it finds the samsung in port 1.
i open iprep and use the ixtreme 4.1 for the samsung firmware. then in the sata info all it shows is 2 standard dual channel pci ide controller which only 1 of the 2 allows for mtkflash and dos flash compatible, and 2 groups of primary ide channel and secondary channel all 4 do not allow mtk so i guess its the first one. i set the target drive to A: and press format/make bootable.

shutdown and turn on pc. iprep boots of A: floppy.
hit y for yes.
enter in dSam (1234567 12345)
drive is powered
the list shows xtreme master and xtreme slave (I am stuck here as to which one to select)
i take a shot in the dark and select the master
i hit the button expecting it to let me power down and hit enter but instead iprep stops working.
i tried using the slave and the same issue.
i tried powering down and then hitting the number key for both master and slave and then powering on and nothing.
iprep just stops working.

is this an issue with my sata configuration or the motherboard completely>>?
if so how do i check my motherboard for compatibility>?
and then how do i set up the sata properly?

i am waiting for my conductive pen in the mail to do the bridging on the liteon but wanted to flash the samsung to dump its original bin and then flash for i can have that read to make a packet using the xtractor software.

if there is any insight on the latter half of this task being the spoofing. anyone have a tutorial link?

i really want to get this to work, my kid sister is driving me up the wall with exams and she needs some games to keep her at bay for an hour.
thank you.

Itel chip set
FW82801ER
F414NA45
SL742
Intel type: D875PBZ

I will buy card if i have too but i hope i can use the pc if not i have another DELL pc about a year old 2007 so maybe that might have more pull than this old clunker alienware.

investing in the right controller will solve your problems :)

there are workarounds for various onboard controllers but you will most probably waste more time messing around & end up buying the controller anyway.

thanks guys...

I am going to look into my sisters dell because she believes that it came with a pci card in it...go figure...

I will try and set up and will post the pci card number but cofree that card is not at all expensive and you are right it would just solve allot of my headache. damn i have been ordering stuff so often its driving me crazy!!!!!

take care and i will follow up with the bridging on the liteon using the conductive pen as well the set up with xtractor software and spoofing.

i hope all goes well and a lasting question comes to mind...

can i brick the samsung drive if i am not careful???

hmmm....
thanks again..

yes
if you flash in a flash and dont have a good key and did not keep a backup of the consoles key.then you would have a bricked drive, and a dead console.
well it would stll play dvd movies.

you have to keep a copy of the key that is in the lite-on dvd drive.

i have many dells and not one has a via6421a or L chipset sata port. ;)

Another thing to keep in mind is what port on the sata card you plug into. Some only work on port 1, so if you try to dump and it doesn't work, try the other port (given that the card has more than 1).

I was looking inside my motherboard and as you can see the VIA VT6421A from tekgems has the connection end of the card as

Image

where as this other card only has the connection ports as

Image

and to my discovery the 2 pcs here in my house only have the connection of the second card; not from tekgems..

question: will both card work or is it to my understanding if i do not have those same pci slots the card will not work properly?

thanks guys...

I work and study medicine so if my posts are repetitive its because i am a trained lab rat already... oh look!!! CHEESE!!!

PCI is PCI.. it's that simple ;)

the only difference in these cards is 1 is not using all the pins.. it will still go in the same slot
