Ok cofree i have the sata card its plugged in and the drivers are installed.
downloaded an xtreme 4.1 off xbins and updated the def file for iprep

open i prep
and now under sata info i see the VIS VT6421 RAID Controller
it allows for mtk and dos flash
i put in a floppy due to not having a compatible flash drive all read "Driver not ready"

i format and everything checks out.

i shutdown and turn on pc (FULL SHUT DOWN)

Iprep opens and at the part were it allows me to select a drive i receive
ide primary
ide secondary
xtreme pri

i assume its the xtreme so i select and the number 3 and then the program doesnt allow me to hit enter.
the program seems as though it starts so i shut down the samsung wait 10 long seconds. turn on and nothing happens.

can you guys help me out?

if you are try to flash or dump a v28 sansung you have to do the ten sec trick to get in the dvd drive.
before you hit the 3(yes ixtreme pri master is right)you have to turn the power off to the dvd drive.then hit the 3 at ten sec turn the dvd drive back on(power it back up) it shshould start the dump.
have a look at this.

i did exactly that and it worked. but it asked me to rebot! and i did .
problem is i didnt leave it on screen long enough to say success such as your video shows..
god some people are just not meant for things this easy.
any way i restart my pc and look into the floppy drive under backup and there is one cfw file at 0kbs and another which was full.

i copied and shut down again
upon now trying to flash an err. occurs.

i restart and go to i prep to see if the sata card is still reading the drive and now it says mtk and dos not supported.
i go to my device manager to see that the files are working fine and now it says that the driver is not working.

may something have happened from me not waiting on the screen?
did i brick the drive?

good lord man
when you are having trouble just stop till someone can get back with you.

ok if you have the ofw and its good you should be ok.
open the "ofw" with firmware toolbox and make sure its a good firmware and it has a good key.

then if its good do this restore with the firmware.
make a copy of it for safe keeping also.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=196" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

then you can start over.
with a floppy you have to wait 2 or 3 mins for firmtool to run and build your hacked firmware.
on the video i was using a usb flash and it builds the hack firmware fast.

lol well it seems that the sata card cant read the samsung drive.
yeah its that bad. the tray wont open and if the card cant read the drive then i can rsam the file.
also..

lol i downloaded firmware toolbox to look at whatever it left in the sam owf file.

fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

thats my reply....
well i called the company that sold me the drive and will see about a warrenty or discount on another drive.
whatever happens once again my mistakes are costly.. sucks to be a noob but i guess its all a learning experience.

if you have any other insights as to what else i can possiblly do please reply and i am sorry that i had a panic there.

well the drive never belonged to a 360 it was purchased.

basically i believe the drive is stuck. when i turn on the pc without the drive on windows registers the sata card with no errors.
when i turn on the pc with the drive on the card registers an error.

iprep shows the card as status=00 should be=70
means to me that the drive isnt even responding.
what a bummer to have a perfect drive and then last minute poop.
i should have studied your tutorial a tiny bit better to have expected that success process to show.
wow i feel like such an ass lol...
well i will get it right next time .
till then thanks again...

time wasted=priceless...

you cant have a samsung dvd drive hook up to the computer when it is running in windows os.

the only time you hook up the dvd drive is in dos when you are going to dump it.
dont trash that dvd drive man
if you cant send it back for a different one or what ever.
ill look at it for you. ;)

the pc was able to see the drive before...

ok....
what should i do i terms of trying to get the drive to work..??

try iprep again.. wait the 10 seconds and try to do another dump??
when i press the eject button on the xtractor the drive wont respond..
should i try another sata port??
if the card wont respond how can i get it to register the response to dump
is there another program other than i prep that might allow me to force a way in??

i will let you know when i return from NC if the company wont return me a new one and if then i will let you have a look at it...
thank you again...

no the port you used was the right one.
it has to list xtreme pri master.that is the dvd drive
if it does not list that then something is wrong/different now

it is not seeing the drive.
if that drive is just a blank dvd drive then just keep messing with it.
just not sure what else i can tell you.
the computer must see the dvd drive

in iprep with the drive off i can find the sata card no prop..
i format the floppy and off we go...
i shut down and boot from the floopy
iprep opens and we hit y and then make sure its on yes
and then it finds the xtreme pri master
on number 3
i power down the drive
one one thousand
----
10 one thousand
power on and it just stays as before with nothing happening.
if i hit escape it responds
status=00 should be=70
i try to open the door and nothing.
the key dump was bad and then the flash was bad too
a nightmare of a thing.
i will try again but i dont see this doing anything...
i found this post:
--------------------------------------------
Flashed an MS28 drive with 42b on via chipset with 10 second method.. reported all 100% all looked good!
Put into 360 & then recieved E65 error!!
Drive is dead, no eject, nothing!
tried bad flash recovery for about 6 hours!!! (waiting 10 seconds,11 seconds...samremod, samread etc nothing!

Heres how I fixed it! with via chipset

1, turned on pc with drive off using xtreme bootmaker with both ms28 boxes ticked!
2, when at dos prompt turned on drive and type mtkflash r /m test.bin
3, pressed enter & DID NOT TURN DRIVE OFF!!!
4, Selected my drive & STILL DID NOT TURN DRIVE OFF!!!
5, It started reading immediately!!!!
6, I was able to read & write continuously (tried 5 or 6 times reading and writing different firmwares)
7, every time i pressed enter it would read and write immediately !!! Drive was never turned off!!

The problem was the fact that I was turning the drive off before selecting chipset (as per instructions!)

Now drive is working perfectly with 42b!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
dont know what to make of it...
maybe you have an idea.

when do you hit the #3

you
turn the dvd drive off
hit the 3 and start the ten sec
at ten turn the dvd drive back on and it should dump.

are you sure this dvd drive is a v28 dvd drive and not a v25 samsung dvd drive.

it reads
FW/ms28

yup i have tried that and the damn thing wont budge
remember i was able to dump before but the process of dumping was halted because at the bottom of the screen a big
! rebot pc !
showed up and i wasnt paying that much attention because i was conversing with my grandmother and hit (alt+ctrl+del) to restart.

i have a feeling that it can work but the drive is stuck or rather bricked on its start up.
maybe i have a bad ixtreme?
i downloaded it today from xbins
i got the i xtreme for the tsh943 ms28
was i wrong in doing so?
all these answers will help on the next go around assuming i can with this same drive.

i will try again but i have a bad feeling nothing will happen.
