Samsung toshiba m25 flashing problem.

Post by danep82 »

Im using iprep 10.7 ixtreme 1.61 with the def for it aswell (all from xbins)
Followed the video tutorial from here :D

I had a problem getting it to recognize the drive at first using the sata cable from my dvd drive but got it working with the hard drive sata cable.

Probelm is it was reading bank 0 for a minute or so when i had a power cut.

Thought ok,try again, same serial number etc and when it gives instructions and press any key to continue i hit enter.
Then it says directory already exists (twice, one under the other) and aborts operation :?

So i tried doing it with a different serial number and it gets as far as reading bank 2 and aborts saying it isnt 256kb

Same if i try using 1.5def

Any help?

Thanks

Tried another attempt, uninstalled iprep and all its associated files and re-downloaded it and the ixtreme 1.61 from xbins

Moved the 1.61def file to the resources and replaced the file there.
Opened iprep-loaded the 1.61 firmware, choose the standard dual channel ide controller (only one it loads to) and selcted drive J (my usb) and made it bootable.
Loaded and finished up.

Shutdown pc.
Boot from usb.
Yes to disclaimer.
Connect Samsung Toshiba Drive and turn on.
Press Enter.
No (N) to first option
No (N) to second option
Yes to 3rd option.
Power drive off-wait-on
Status changes to ok and continues
bank 0.. ok
Bank 1.. ok
Bank 2.. Wrong status
Error-abort operation
SAMOFW.BIN is not 256kb!!

I had a look on the usb and found it in the back up section and it shows as 160kb. I googled for a few hours and only got a hint that may be wrong,it(the site) said something about the key being missing from the file
Then i went through another few hours reading about locking up or bricking, but seeing as i didnt actually get to write ,only read am i going in the wrong direction?

man there is something going on.

1st
with iprep it has to be on a via6421 chipset
there has only been a few times people have got it to dump on a different chipset
this card works.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2nd
the xbox 360 dvd drive has to be on the main (or first) sata port on the card
iprep will only index that first port.

at this point i would like to know it still works for you
out it in the console and start it up
and see if it will start a game
if not see if it will start a dvd movie.

I dont have a clue what chipset i have since i upgraded to Win7 it fails to pick the dat up with everst, belrac or system information and sysinfo32. All i know is its ami bios but it doesnt look like the pic above so id say it isnt it.

Ok,so that was my first problem so.

I cant due to having 3 red lights (before i started) i was only trying this before testing it on a working machine, but i did not think it would effect the drive. The disc drive wont open ,and i cant tell why,it was working earlier just by pressing the eject button on the xbox.
Also windows wont pick it up in devices unless its st3500418AS ATA Device, but i cant find it anywhere except device manager.

its not going to mount up to windows right
the only way it will
is if you flash the 0800 firmware\
but
that is just for dumping games.

Tried it again with the 1.61 firmware,no joy,so i unplugged the sata cable from my pc,plugged it back into a different slot and rebooted,it didnt pick it up as guessed and i then put it back in the right place and (using 1234567-12345 as serial) it read all banks ok and is now stuck at writing bank 0 . I take it this is the motherboard at fault like you said earlier?

Got the VIA6412a chipset but the status wont change ,stays at x077 ( i think thats it)
The cd drive wont open either,i take it either the xbox itself isnt giving power to the cd drive or the cd drive isnt accepting it?
