Yeah I remember hearing about that, do you think M$ could possibly do it to just catch you using backup games then press charges for seeing you make your backup copy and play it live

I think they sometimes will take a copy of you speaking to your console, IE: telling it to go to dashboard, but that's only with your permission, and thats to improve the speech recognition.

You can bet if they tried to spy on you through the cam people would find out and they would be sued big time.

Kinect is not the first opportunity M$ has had to spy on you. If you run Windows and have a webcam (most laptops do now), then the chance was there. Why wait for Kinect to come out? Catch 2% more people than with the built in camera than the laptop camera provided? Reminds me of 1984. Everyone under surveillance all the time, but not enough people to watch you all the time. For a business, where is the profit?

it would not be for profit so to speak
it could be used to learn how to better control your customer base
and yes that would mean more profit in the end

I will say, don't trust it. Don't fool yourselves, M$ CAN use the Kinect to see you. Suspected of playing backups or modding your console? Why couldn't the put a face to profile, maybe even then a Facebook profile and a real name....

Don't think the government can't, or wont, use your Kinect against, if they want.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake.

guys it is a fact
they can and will watch you.
have a read over this
Speaking to investors last week, Microsoft chief operating officer, Dennis Durkin, spoke of potential business opportunities in using Kinect to target game marketing and advertising, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

“We can cater which content we present to you based on who you are,” said Durkin. “How many people are in the room when an ad is shown? How many people are in the room when a game is being played? When you add this sort of device to a living room, there’s a bunch of business opportunities that come with that.”

While the concepts expressed present a number of privacy concerns, Microsoft's own Kinect Privacy and Online Safety FAQ states the the company "may analyze performance data to ensure users are receiving the optimal game experience, and to help improve Kinect games and the Xbox 360 platform. We may also share some of this aggregated data with companies that provide Kinect-enabled games which will help them improve their product."

M$ ruin's everything.

Plus, why the hell do we need to constantly see ad's on a service we pay for. When they spy on me and determine what ad's I want to see they better figure out I dont want to see any damn ad's nor do I want to be spied on.

That's why I don't want cable.

If you don't want to be spied on, don't buy it. Money talks.

Or hack it. Companies don't listen.
