Solderless adapter instead of probe! (liteon drive)

Post by mrc »

Hi guy's

For those of you that do not wish to solder the very small 707 jumper this is tested and works great. All you need is a 30mm length of knar wire (modding wire). On one end make a small 2mm round loop tin this. The other end a 3mm strip see picture below.

All you need to do now is to use a small piece of clear tape and tape the loop to the big tx pad. Then put the stripped end in the 707 via hole. Obviously you need to keep the drive upside down durring the read/write but this is fine anyway. again see picture below.

Get the drive key 3 times and compare them. It is a good idea to put a small amount of pressure on the solder loop as you get them and as you flash. Also you could solder the wire on the tx pad its a hell of alot easier than the jumper. Then remove it when you finish.

Hope this helps someone for me it was very easy!!!

Good deal man. If you use the CK3 tool or the xtractor software, you could also use just a small flat head jewelers screw driver to connect the R707 points instead of soldering them and then use the timer on the CK3 tool or xtractor software to give you enough time to bridge the connection. Or you could use a conductive pen to connect the points as well. You can actually even tap into a certain wire and splice in a second wire soldered to a safety pin and use that as a probe or spear in the R707 hole.

Your method is cheap and easily done, no reason not to use it if you don't have a probe or spear and this is probably safer than the screw driver method as well.
