Windows Mobile Phone Y2K Bug

Post by HaGGardSmurf »

Well on windows mobile phones if you have your text messaging setup so you see the time &/or the date the message was sent (mainly for threaded messaging) you will notice any text you have received in the year 2010 will show up as having received it in 2016.

There seems to be some kind of bug with the date, when converting from hex to dex it will come up as 16.

There is no official patch or update as of yet, but there is a work around, if your on windows mobile, you can download and install this .cab Click Here

I can confirm it works beautify, I downloaded the cab with my phone, and installed it, according to the guy who created it, it uses the current time on your phone rather than the time stamp on the text message.

I noticed on new years my texts were showing up as have been sent in 2016, figured I had too much to drink and had changed some setting by mistake in my pocket (touch screen) but turns out its a bug in the OS.
