Wii

Post by pluto_00 »

Yeah I got a Wii for my girlfriend + the Wii fit balance board...

So checking the serial online I have the D2C-2 chip inside

I ordered a Wasabi v2 + Wii clip I will have to solder it myself + the F point

Hope everything go's right.

I just have a question about were you find the software for the wasabi or how does that work ...
you kan flash it using DVD but were do you get the osftware to put it in.
I think the one i bought is preflashed but in the future I wont to know how to reflash en test things myself.

Yup, CoFree is right. Right now they only have one update for the Wasabi and its only for those running a Korean Wii. Everything else on the Wasabi V2's is running pretty stable.

Wasabi V2 + Wii clip V5 solderd and installed ! + Problem ...

Wii plays original games BUT if I put in a backup it shows in the wii menu loads but then it says can't read disk.

I burned with imageburn
media = Phillips DVD-R <== Maybe here is the problem

Are there other settings i might try or just wait and order some Verbatim media ?

Just burn slow and try the verbs. I have used other brands with my Wii, but I have witnessed a lot of Wii's that are contrary as to the brand they like to read.

I've used memorex dvd+r media. I know they all have their own personality, but you might want to give it a try.

Keep in mind that the Memorex or Phillips name means nothing, most companies outsource their DVD's to third parties like CMC Magnetics. Verbatim and Sony are the only manufacturers I know of that make their own discs and don't outsource. Not coincidentally they make some of the better quality discs. The Media ID of the discs is what's important. You can check it in ImgBurn under Media ID or Manufacturer ID in the main program or use a program like DVD Identifier: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you get CMC Magnetics with those Wii discs, you've found your problem. You can get Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DVD media cheap at places like http://www.supermediastore.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.newegg.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Since most other companies outsource their disk making, that actually means alot to me as far as quality goes. It doesn't bother me that they outsource them. Just that they don't hold them to a strict standard just so they can get them done cheaper.

Taiyo Yuden media made in Japan is pretty much the best on the planet imo, I've been using it for about 3 years now. Sony's own media ID is decent, but it's a far cry from Yuden media. Verbatim's are good, for DVD-5 media, they are not in the same league as Taiyo Yuden. I wish TY made Dual Layer media, though the MKM dyes are pretty damn good.

I wondered why TY wasn't big in the 360's. That's all you heard about when I was doing xbox1's. Good info Sess.

ooh nice great info !

I used some old PRINCO disks and burned it with a speed of 2.4 and it worked, then I tryed again with the philips Dvd again on 2.4 and it worked also.
Think I burned the first time with a speed of 5 ans that gave me the not readable disk.

Another question is if there is something like homebrew (for psp) out there to instal on the wii ?

The homebrew scene for the wii is pretty much exploding right now. Depending on what firmware version you have at the moment, you can install something called the homebrew channel that will allow you to load homebrew from a SD card in the front sd card slot. Then you can get the homebrew browser and browse all homebrew apps and download and install them at will, or even delete them. Check out http://www.wiinewz.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for more homebrew info.
