Vault of Glass boss gets a bug fix in Destiny's next patch

The next round of fixes for Destiny will address both Atheon, the final boss in the Vault of Glass raid, and the Mythoclast, the exotic weapon he drops, Bungie reported in its latest weekly update.

Strengthening Atheon doesn't appear to be a result of this video, in which a six-man team drops him in 17 seconds, total. "Knocking a boss off a ledge is a bug," Bungie noted. "We will seek to address bugs like these as quickly as possible."

The 17-second takedown didn't involve knocking Atheon from a ledge, just loads and loads of firepower from six high-level characters. So "baby bumpers" will be placed into the game to keep him and other bosses from going off a ledge.

That said, Atheon's Timestream ability will be changed to address a bug in the AI's target selection. Instead of choosing three players furthest from it, Atheon will now pick three at random.

Mythoclast, the weapon he drops (pictured), had been nerfed in a prior fix, which Bungie now admites was too much of a drop. Bungie had diminished its damage and attack values because it was too powerful in PvP. However, "You braved our hardest challenges, we want to reward you with a weapon that outperforms the other primaries in your PvE arsenal."

Thus its base damage and attack (which affects how much damage players deal to combatants) will be raised. Timeline for these fixes are "soon." Bungie also said it has "a more substative update in certification right now." There's more detail on how Bungie is balancing the game in the weekly update at the link
