Chip help please

Post by bonez »

Hello all

Ive stupidly updated my Wii today with current firmware today. Now none of the backups work.
I installed the WIID since it came out, but now updating its seems its being detected. No problems before updating f/ware.
Ive been out the Wii scene for some time, so if possible my questions are :

- First choice ide like to the WIIKEY. Whats the best code for this, and alternative. Where can i also get code/images ect
- If commercial option, whats the best chip and cheapest price
and finally
- Is there a way to downgrade from the firmware i have now

Ide appreciate your help guys

What I would recommend you to do is to take that wiid out and then softmod it using the guides over at yafaze. Use the link that cofree gave you and it'll work like a charm.

Thanks for the help , ive removed chip (wiid), and with tutorials coming out of every orifice, ive now got a disk stuck in drive
Pressing eject has no effect.

ive got HBC loaded and showing, and when downgraded it came as successfull, but ive problems with installing the actual hack ect, which results in error.

I know im a pain, but she's gonna hit the roof when she sees the console not working. A
A tut that is 100% by you guys and if possible the fix for the drive.

Appreciate your help

Most all of us use the guides over at yafaze when it comes to the Wii. More than likely, the reason the drive won't eject is because there is a fuse or actually a voltage regulator on the circuit board of the drive in the area that a chip would install at. It looks like an SMD resistor of sorts, but it isn't. If that gets to much heat it will not let voltage run through and let the drive work. Check into that.

if you pulled the wiiD off the board
make sure you did not cross any solder
check to make sure all the traces are good and clean
with no solder bridges on them
