drawbacks............

Post by loady »

I want to mod my Wii, having read through numerous threads i find that there are drawbacks to playing back ups with a soft mod, namely not all games work, is this the case with a chip ? i am looking at the wasabi DX solderless chip and i am wondering if i will be able to use homebrew like a soft mod, ie, can i run games of an external drive of flash drive even ?

you have to have the home brew channel to run usb loader programs
but
there can be trouble with chip playing all games
they do better that soft mod but it can happen

all of mine are soft mod now
and i love it
there is not game played on a disc at all
i have 3 different usb loader apps installed and have got ever game i want to play with one or the other of them.

i would say do the soft mod
imo

Thanks for the reply, your answer suprises me somewhat !!...i would have expected you to say the drive key was the way to go...is your answer based on cost ? that is not an issue but i do want something thats easy to use as i may do this for a few family members that are not quite as techie as i am...are you also saying there is more i can do with a softmod than i can with a chip ? what soft modem route do you recommend ?

Thanks

For me the soft mods are the only way to go. Here's why...
1. They're FREE!!!
2. Once you've taken the time to read through a few tutorials and understand what to do, it only takes about 10 min.
3. You never have to open the case. BIG +
4. My favorite app is the "Homebrew Browser" which lets you connect to a server to download more apps straight to the Wii without ever using your computer.
5. You can play all region games.
6. 99.99% of games work!
