what do you guys think is the best program to convert music.
from one format to another.

I have always used Adobe Audition (formally know as cool edit pro)
occasionally soundforge ;)

but there are so many available & they all pretty much do the task.
I guess It depends if you are looking for a straight re-encode or if you want to edit aswell.

well im want to be able to change the format
and make a ringtone(for the wife) to put on her phone

use adobe audition - u can edit & slice out the exact bit you want then, & change it to any format you need (it supports all major formats) ;)

I just use the wave editor that comes with nero burning rom. It allows you to edit what you want, save as a different format and such. Its not as intuitive as the adobe product, but it gets the job done.
