Hi guys I recently blowed up my older sparcle GeForce 8800 GTX
I orderd a new card the ATI radeon HD5750 Vapor X

I installed the card in my pc and now I can't boot anymore
My motherboard an Asus P5K isupgraded to the latest bios availeble alwell as the chipset drivers.

What happens on power up is every fan spins but within a seond the system powers down and then gets in a loop trying to boot but keeps falling out and rebooting.

POwer source is a OCZ 600 W that is more than enough

Sometime when i unplug the extra 6 pin molex for extra power on the video card then it boots and i get error beeps from the motherboard when I then plug the molex back in en press the reset button it magically boots up and everything works fine.

If I shut down the pc it falls out en then after 2 seconds it automatically powers back up getting in the loop again ...

I'm out of option and things too try
any one have an idea what could be the problem here ?

a different vid card.just a small one cheap
would be my first thing
if that worked
then it would have to be your card or the power supply

the thing with the power supply is both will lie
the power supply does not put out what they say
and the vid card will pull more than they say

if you are 100% sure the card is good then i would think it would be to small of a power supply

Is your PSU 600 peak or continuous wattage? Lots of companies advertise peak wattage so their PSU looks better than other's.

The 5770 needs a 600 watt minimum I believe, if you have multiple HDD's dvd drives etc you may not have enough power going to your card.

I'm pretty sure the problem is your PSU. Your card is taking too much power, and thus there is not enough left for the system to boot. When you unplug one of the pci-e power cables, the card doesnt have enough power to startup, so it wont, and thats why your system will boot because your card is not hogging all the power.

I'd recommend finding a friend with a bigger psu, or if you have a good computer shop, take it in and see if they can put a larger psu in to see if it will boot. (Dont go to best buy etc, they will charge you a ridiculous price just to open the side of the case.)

I bought the 4870 a few weeks ago as a cheap upgrade, and its an awesome card, I was looking at the 5 series, and they are very good, but a bit pricey for the rig I was upgrading.

My friend just came over he has exactly the same card working in his setup, in my setup just the same problem... not booting.

The thing is it works sometimes ...
I disembled my PSU and it is an OCZ 700W STEALTHXSTREAM POWER SUPPLY
So that is 700W peak

these are the recomanded specs for the card
450 Watt or greater power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

So that really should be more than enough power.

The only thing I found of someone with the same problem was he updated the bios of his moterboard and everything worked ... not in my case that is !

I will try to find a PSU to try that option

Hmm, 700 watt, that is more than enough.

So if your card is not being powered, (if 1 or more of the 6 pin power cabled are unplugged) you can boot, but you get the error about your card?

What kind of mobo do you have?

Could be a mobo issue, or the card is just DOA. Which is covered under warranty.
