Why does a burner that is only 3 months old do this ?
Or is it just the disk that is faulty?

Man that looks like just the disc is faulty. You may even have a bad batch.

try a different kind of disc
just for testing.

Well first time it happend was on a brand new verbatim DL dvd +r

Second DL disk I tryed he did fine, after that i wanted to burn soms data on a rewritable that went wrong on all disks I tryed (there were some scratches).

Now I tryed on a normal dvd -R that went good again , so everything ok so far ...
