Dell XPS 400 giving me a headache

Post by dustman1995 »

Hey guys. Picked up a dell along the way with no hard drive. Found a 1TB for $79, yay! put it in and started it up and the fans ran for a min and a startup screen came up then boom power down. The green light is still on the motherboard. I'm thinkin I need a new motherboard. Don't know too much about this.

Yeah, I'm afraid it might be the motherboard. Any suggestions on where to start looking for one. That is a headache in itself.

Great music cofree. I remember as a kid, my mom had that song on record and me and my brother would speed it up to make it sound like the chipmunks. We would do that for hours and laugh when he would sing chestnuts in chipmunk voice  I tried everything with the dell like you said then finally bought the mobo from amazon for like fifty bucks. It fit in the tower and everything but the one freakin problem with dell's proprietary bullshiZ with a Z is the power button has no way of hooking up to the new board! So after researching, I guess you just touch the green and black wires together to get ti to power on. Not tonight though. Been a little too merry with the beers to be messin around. That's how I blew up some other shiZ before. Out

Wow, thats a pain! You should just buy a simple little 1 dollar button, and wire the green and black wires to it.

I used to have the chipmunk's Christmas CD, there was like 12 Christmas songs sung by alvin and the chipmunks ;) it was a joy.
