benq took a bit of a tumble wont read games w/ new drive

Post by hondakid »

hello my benq phat xbox decided to commit suicide and jumped about 3 ft. i replaced the drive w/ a refurbished benq and even soldered the pcb board. now i am getting a drive that only reads dvds. i have tried to flash original and cfw but it keeps saying it will only read dvds. do i need to adjust the pots or do you think it is something w/ the mobo? please help im at my wits end.

if your 100% sure you have the right dvd key flashed into the new drive then i think your console is actually dead :L

what dashboard are you?

Before you completely give up on it, check the resistance on the pots and adjust as necessary. It might just be that the laser is out of whack.
