Original 79D firmware issues anyone?

Post by Shootsteel »

I modd quite a few boxes a week and have recently with IE1.51 ran into an issue with the 79D bin file. I am using Jungle Flasher for the Hit drives and over the past few weeks I have personally flashed most every Hit drive made, the 79D (I have had the same problem on two different 79D's) seems to have an issue ...any thoughts on this?. (other versions of the 79 no problems)

I finally posted so now I must say this to ALL who make this site possible THANK YOU! VVM! Cofree, thanks for the great tuts and guidance you have freely given....Mad props again.

I regret that I have failed to offer help to anyone in the past and will be more mindful of that in the future. As this is my first stop every morning after making coffee and opening my shop. Your site keeps me tuned in and up to date to all news relevant gaming/modding, and for that I thank you.

I haven't done any 79D's but have done other 79's. What kind of issue are you having with the D's?

In jungle flasher all the other drives update perfectly.....the d's come back with checksum not correct....must correct..I set the checksum...it reports that its proper(checksum)...proceed to restore to original....still unable to restore to original firmware...must set checksum...and the cycle repeats itself over and over. Thanks for your help.

I've gotten a similar message recently when restoring the firmware on the 79D.
Since I had a good dump of the OFW i just ignored it and went ahead and flashed it anyway.
But I don't recall exactly what the message I got was. It may have been different.

hmmm. That is an interesting symptom. I can't recall having that issue before. I would setup a test for this if I had the opportunity. What I would do is use firmware toolbox to restore the drive first and then see what jungleflasher had to say about it. If it still gave a check sum error.

Thanks for the insight on that I will do just that next one that comes in.
By the way Jungle Flasher has really streamlined my Hit modding...all I use now for these drives. Takes all the random issues with mode B and 79 unlock and sweeps them away. (except for the 79d's).
For the 79 unlock a proper burn of the audio track is all that is needed. I look forward to Hit drives as Jungle Flasher has made it near seamless.
