The reason the fans are in the case is to prevent the CPU from getting hot, So if you can hear them going that means they are doing what they were made for. BUT if you notice they are getting exceptionally loud then your system may not be getting the proper ventilation needed to cool itself and the fans are working double time.

Why does everyone complain the xbox is loud? If its too loud, install the game to your HDD, then you wont hear the drive spinning, and keep your xbox in an open area, or if you have the xbox 'hidden' away, open it up, and leave the case open...

Personally I do not find the xbox is loud... (I guess it could be that I play in my basement which is always cool, and all air vents are unobstructed...)

I have to agree to a certain extent, While the fans are somewhat louder then most PC fans there really is no problem unless you play a game with your volume at nill. The sound of my TV is guaranteed to drown out any noise coming from my Xbox.

Same thing with me my T.V drowns out the sound of my xbox. Even with no volume, the sound of my xbox does not bother me at all..

i dont mind the lous noise as long as the fans keep my box cool.
i added the talismoon fans to mine but the plug didnt match my board so i made it to where i plug the fans into a 110 to 12 volt adapter. loud as hell but the heat sinks stay cold

hahah, you can also extend the wind tunnel with cardboard or what have you, and that will increase airflow over the heat sink, therefore more heat is expelled.
