360 Dashboard
360 Dashboard
Is it possible to change the xbox 360 dashboard background and put background music on it? If you can, how do I do this?

Re: 360 Dashboard
You can change the background graphics from anything that happens to be on there already to a picture that you put on from a USB stick or external hdd. As far as automatically having music in the background when you first boot your 360, I don't think you can. I know you can start the music player and then back out to the dashboard with the music still playing.

Re: 360 Dashboard
Yes you can change it to any picture you like.
Here is how to do that:
1)Get a photo you wish to have as your back ground
2)Save it to a usb memory stick
3)Plug the memory stick into the xbox360
4)Go to the Media Menu, and click Pictures
5)Click Portable Device, choose the image you wish to have as your background
6)Press the X on the controller, wait for the slide and choose yes, use this picture
Now you have your custom background
And if that is not totally right I bet Sess can help even better.

Re: 360 Dashboard
correct... you can launch & play music at anytime but you can't assign it as part of a constant theme.don wrote:

Re: 360 Dashboard
How do you update the dashboard using the updates from this site : http://zkaerfdom.hostwq.net/_menue/Downloads.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (halfway down the page).

Re: 360 Dashboard
Let me make a clarification on this subject before someone who might get confused on this topic does just that. You get your console updates from xbox live just like everyone else. The ones on that site does not contain anything uber hacked or anything, they are just regular updates. They are intended for use for those that do not update their consoles unless its for a particular kernel. Then you would have to have an infectus chip installed and be able to run the shader hack to pull off the timing attack so you can dump your nand flash and manipulate it so you can downgrade to the base kernel and then update to that particular kernel. It is not for the everyday Joe thats for sure and the only plus you get out of it is the ability to run linux, thats it.
Long story short, if your looking for updates, do it the normal way.

Re: 360 Dashboard
Outta curiosity, is the 360-compatible Linux capable of running HD video through VLC or mplayer? That is the only worthwhile use I can think of for the hack.

Re: 360 Dashboard
Not yet, but they are making some progress in the 3D department. A far cry from HD, but getting there.
