“The computer and videogame industry will be well-protected with Ken’s guidance and I know he will help facilitate our growth to even greater heights”

The Entertainment Software Association has appointed former Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) exec Kenneth Doroshow as its new general counsel.

Doroshow, who will start his new role at the ESA in September, was previously senior VP of litigation and legal affairs for the RIAA, where he led anti-piracy lawsuits against companies including LimeWire, Usenet.com and AllofMP3.com.

“Ken has remarkable expertise in the protection of intellectual property and an excellent understanding of the increasingly connected, dynamic, and innovative entertainment environment we live in,” said Michael Gallagher, CEO of the ESA.

“The computer and videogame industry will be well-protected with Ken’s guidance and I know he will help facilitate our growth to even greater heights.”

Prior to his role at the RIAA, Doroshow was senior counsel with the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the United States Department of Justice, where he was charged with running criminal investigations into software piracy over the Internet.

“Ken brings a wealth of intellectual property knowledge and experience to the Entertainment Software Association,” said Patrick Ross, executive director of the Copyright Alliance.

“He has worked in multiple facets of the copyright industries and will be a knowledgeable addition to the ESA. The Copyright Alliance looks forward to continuing to work with Ken in this new role.”
