dumping & flashing are 2 separate things... check the key in firmware toolbox, it needs to a random string of numbers & letters .. not all 000's, FFF's etc.assassinmatt1 wrote:ok so i am very new at this i got a via6421 chipset follwed a tut for i prep all was good until after i dumped my benq it told me to shut off the drive before flashing so i did now i keep getting this error :

Re: bad flash i think / 360 now only plays dvd's
the orig bin will be in the backup folder on your flash.
backup>1234567>12345 then in there will be your orig firmware.
the numbers will be your ser number of course.
you can try to dump the drive again
dont reformat the flash.
use a different one.
you have to find your key.
with out it you have just a dvd player .

was the xbox playing the games before you attempted the dump, as msk said dumping and flashing are two different things and if you dumped the firmware then it should still play games but if instead of dumping you just went straight to flash then i guess you have a brick,

dump your drive again on a different flash.
leave the other flash drive alone for now.if you have to you can do it on a floppy just to dump.
after the dump stop in the folder in the back up folder you will find your orig firmware .
open that in firmware toolbox and see if you have a good key.
yes the picture of you key could very well keep you from have a bricked dvd drive.
pm me you key that is in the picture and ill tell you if i think it is good or not.
if its a lot of the same number or letter then its a baqd key.
like msk said
if it a lot of different numbers and letters then it is probably a good key.
