if the arcades go down to $199 in september like i've read i will almost definitely get one soon as the lite-on gets ixtreme which sounds like soon.

Ok, this is first public tutorial and its not detailed,only for experts.......

DVD key grabber for Benq and Lite-on

It receives DVDkey from drive serial port and save to file, you need a LVTTL-RS232 converter (max3232) between COM1 (embedded COM1 on motherboard, 0x3F8 IRQ4) and TX RX pins on drive power cable (for liteon the trace to powercable are cut, need a little soldering).
It also saves identify.bin and inquiry.bin, for the spoof lovers.

This "unlocks" also Benq to accept MTK vendor ATA cmds (dosflash etc...), not for liteon

You must power on PC without sata cable connected to drive.
You must poweron the drive with tray half opened and eject switch in open state.
You must power off an on again the drive each time you run the app.

For rs232 troubleshuting, consider that Liteon  by default outputs an endless stream of 0x00 and 0x01 at 115200 8N1, you should see it with Realterm with display set to hex

you mean to say i need to do all that to get the dvd key damn im no good at soldering and trying to get the things as well is a bit hard as i live in the uk

If you look on xboxhacker.net at the thread they have on the subject, you'll find links to places that sell the card in the UK. But yeah, the soldering will be the problem with this one. Although with a little practice, you should be able to do it pretty easily from what I can tell anyway. I don't have a liteon to experiment with, plus, I don't have the means to get one of those cards as of yet. I may get one a little later, but there are a few on this board that's getting them so I would say it won't be long till you'll see a guide on dumping the liteon and spoofing another flashed drive to take its place.
