Sadalius, I see what you mean about PSP modding... It's a pain in the arse!!

I've done loads of reading trying to figure out whether I can do the GTA exploit on a Phat with 2.82? From what I can gather, you can't. But most of the posts I have been reading are fairly old and was wondering if there had been any updates other than Pandora's Battery on this FW in particular...

I think the release of Pandora sort of muted development of other types of downgraders.

I don't think it will be long before a simple all in one GUI is released

Just one click and your Pandora stick is ready.

All you need to do then is make your Pandora battry, and it can be left like that as Boosters Multi IPL boot's to the PSP's dash by default.

I've got a slim battery on the way for mine to turn into a jigkick (slim, 3.72) but a mate asked me if I could do his 2 phats (both on 2.82). I know the slim battery won't work on his, so I was hoping I would be able to downgrade with an exploit...?

You need to update the PSP's to 3.03, then you can downgrade.
You need a copy of the unpatched GTA:Liberty City Stories UMD though. (Very hard to find)

Yup, for modding/unbricking all PSP's, you really need a phat battery. It's the easiest way to go really. Especially if you don't have the unpatched GTA: Liberty City Stories. I've only saw one copy that wasn't patched, and trust me, the guy that owns it won't sell it to me, LOL!!

I wish I had thought things through a little more before I started buying....

I have a slim replacement battery coming (should have got a fat), and 2 versions of GTA:LCS coming (hopefully one is what he says it is)

I'm gonna cut the traces on the bat and do mine, then move onto my mates with the exploit

It's all good fun, but since I've had the Wii and the PSP, I haven't been on Xbox Live doing all the readin and researching to mod them...

Thanks guys managed to pull it off without any hitches...

Used a Phat battery so I can use it for all 3 that I'm doing. I've cut the pin, so I won't the be using the battery much (I was never going to solder it back in anyway). Now I just need to update to 3.90 and I can start tinkering...

P.S. Can 3.80 play PS1 games straight off, or do you need a loader??

I'm not sure about PS1 games. I haven't ventured that much into it. I'm more into the homebrew stuff at the moment. The most emu related stuff I've played with is nesterj and some NES roms, thats about it other than a slightly silly but addicting game called patapon that someone had a problem with recently

After your question about psx games, my curiosity was intrigued. I found a couple of games that I wanted to try. One was Mortal Kombat II and the other was the original crash bandicoot. Both files I downloaded was .nrg files, which is basically an ISO file that nero burning rom uses to burn with. I had read that m33 has the ability to play these psx games in iso format straight from the memory stick, but these weren't iso's. I converted the smallest one to an ISO and tried it and it didn't work. I think the process of converting it from nrg to iso is what messed it up. So, I used daemon tools to load the nrg like a disk, then used clonecd to make an img file of it, then used simple Pop Station GUI to make an eboot.pbp and keys.bin files. Transfered those to my psp in the GAMES folder and MKII booted up fine with no problems. So then I did the same thing for crash bandicoot. Simple Pop Station GUI offers to transfer the files to your PSP for you when it's finished making the eboot and keys files, you just have to have your psp connected at the same time. Well, when I did crash, for some reason it named the folder on the psp as Crash Bandicoot (Original & Platinum). Well, when I looked in the PSP menu, it showed up as corrupt data. I renamed the folder to just crash bandicoot, and it showed up like normal and I was able to play it.

You don't have to install pops loader to play psx games, just have to have it in iso format, or use simple pop station gui to get an eboot and keys file.

hey sad, I've come back to try my pandora battery, and I can't get anything out of it. I haven't used it in ages, so I assume the charge has gone, but I can't get it to charge no matter what I try. The power light seems to flash red, does this mean the battery's toast??

Yeah, if its flashing red, that means that the charging circuit isn't communicating so it won't take charge. That would be one dead battery.

Not really. Have you tried it in a different PSP, could also be the charging ciruit on the console itself.
