1st time Flasher stuck with a Benq

Post by Maureen »

Im trying my 1st flash, its a benq.
Flashing with a usb pen memory stick.
Motherboard is a Gigaybyte GA- K8N-SLI
http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/Products/Mo ... GA-K8N-SLI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have Iprep 101 v006.2 and have updated it.
According to Iprep i have a Nvidia nforce4 sata raid controller.
Also above sata controller it has went green and says MTKflash and Dosflash compatible.

Ive booted to pen drive and replied y and entered serial number.
Then it stops and sticks at 0x80

Ive tried all 4 sata ports and 2 different sata leads.

Does this mean the sata chips on my board arent compatible the?.
Thanks for any help.

you can try dosflash
like sadalius said
or

make sure you are using the sata port on the inside of your computer and then the port that is closest to front of the computer.
try a different usb flash
you could try a floppy just for kicks.as long as you have a good working floppy drive.

if by chance you dont have a floppy drive in your computer go in the bios and make sure that the floppy is dis-abled in the bios.

Another update-
Triying dosflash and using the same sata card it recognises the drive.
Ive read and got a copy of the original firmware.

From the guide -
Step7: Copy the orig.bin into your Ixtreme firmware folder for which ever speed you choose. (i recommed 12x as i think thats the speed in which the benq originally reads discs) Run “Make Ixtreme Firmware.” If all goes well it will say Success and you will now have the firmware you need to flash the drive.

So i have pasted the orig.bin into the folder and ran "make ixtreme firmware" and it makes a file - ix14.
When i then browse and write the file to the xbox rom it wont play any games at all. I get place this disc in an xbox message. Then i reflash back to orig.bin and it plays fine.

Am i still doing something wrong?

Firmtool for whatever reason isn't running and your dvd key is not being copied to the new firmware. Basically, get firmware toolbox 4.8 and open your original firmware. Copy the key that it shows you. Then open the hacked firmware that was created, paste the key into it and hit the save key button. Then flash the hacked firmware to the drive.
