help please

it all went well but when i put a disc in copy or Original game im getting to play the this disc put in a xbox360.

the drive is a Hitachi-LG ver :0078fk

mobo is ASUS m2v-tvm chipset VIA K8M890.

BTW it will play a cd lens cleaner disc which as a music track on it.and tried a dvd movie and that works

i opened up the original fw + the hacked fw you flashed on your 360 with fw toolbox, the keys are the same on both.

well man we need more info than that.
give us step by step what you did.

i opened up the original fw + the hacked fw

ok thet are the same but are they good keys.
a good key will be a lot of different letters and numbers.
a bad key will be the same"fffffffffffffffffffffff" or "000000000000000000000"
something like that.

sounds like he flashed a bad key/firmware dump, right cofree ? i think anyway. or just a bad flash maybe.

prolly have to restore it then if you have the original firmware, that is if it was a good dump. if not i dunno.

i did all of this step by step.
1. Get the drive into ModeB using the SLAX Linux disk. The latest version of the disk (v2.1) with SATA plugged in the mobo toxbox360
2. i Opened 360 Firmware Toolbox v3

3. Tools > Direct Drive Dump

4. Select your Hitachi 78 drive

5. Pressed 'RAW Dump Firware As' and save as 78original.bin

6. The program will say the firmware has been dumped and ask if you want to open it, press 'Yes'

---Dump the firmware a few more times (save it as different names) and make sure you get the same checksum every time!---

7. Make a note of the DVD Key for backup purposes

8. Tools > Smart Hack Patcher

9. Save the output file as hacked78.bin

10. Check that the rule is set for v78 drives and click 'Generate File'

11. The program will ask if you want to open the new file, press 'Yes'

12. Tools > Direct Drive Flash > Differential Flash (PATCH)

13. Select your drive from the list and press 'Read Drive and Detect Differences'

14. Make sure 'Internal Flasher' is selected and press 'Start Flashing'

15. Once it says 'All Sectors Flashed', you're done!

16. Turn your PC off and unplug the drive, plug it back into the Xbox and try it out!

i did a restore and flash the same way above but still getting the same problem going to try again today.

It has to be something with the key. When you restored it, did you try it in the 360 to see if it would play originals or did you restore it and immediately re-flash it?

My suggestion would be to restore it and see if it works with originals. If it doesn't then something happened when it read the firmware to give you the wrong key information. And that would be bad news. If you did restore it and try it and it worked with originals, then something is happening when it creates the new hacked firmware. You might even try with the latest firmware toolbox, currently version 4.8. But the first thing I would try is restoring it and see if it will work with originals then.

i think when i did the restore it would only play dvds not any game originals or backup.dose that mean i have broke the drive?.god i hope not it my son's mates.

Well, after doing a restore, that should have put the drive back to stock. So backups should not have worked, but originals should have. If they aren't, then something happened during dumping the firmware that the key got botched. Without the proper key, the drive will not play any games. They will only play movies and music disks. If you want, I can take a look at your was.bin and see if the key is the problem or not. Shoot me a pm if you want me to take a look at it.

You mean you sent it to CoFree maybe? I don't remember ever seeing it. But if he said it looked good, then it probably did. Unless the drive key somehow got corrupted during the initial dump process.

lol yep sorry CoFree .i thought of somthing i took the 78drive out of it box which had rrod and put it in another box which as a 79drive in which work im not going to flash that.would that make any difference or not

you have to spoof a firmware if you are going to put it in a console that had a different dvd drive in it to start with.


you will need the key from the v79 dvd drive
then you put the v79 key in the firmware of the v78 and spoof it to report as a v79.
then flash it in the v78.

you will be using firmware toolbox for this.

If you took the 78 out of an RROD box and put it in a box that had a 79 in it, yeah, that would make a world of difference. But then you "should" have gotten an e66 error. You would need to spoof the firmware to match that of the drive that came out of the box. If a 79 came out and a 78 is going in, you would need to spoof the 78 firmware to 79 firmware before flashing it. You would also need the DVD key from the 79 drive to put into the 78's hacked firmware as well. You can try that to see if it makes any difference at all. It should work once its spoofed and has the correct key.

ok thanks for all your help may i say u gays are great so i can get the key for the 79 the same way with toolbox.i dont want to flash that 79 so i put that drive in the box ModeB with SLAX get the key then what how do i get it out of ModeB with out flashing it.
