Lite-on here is what we know

Hey All,

I am a bit confused. I heard that the lite-on is to be modded by software. I have a lite-on that I need flashed. I have flashed all types of drives before and from what I have understood the lite-on should be no different. I have a VIA Raid card, sata cables and a flash drive. Thats all I need right? My question is, why do I need to extract the key? Or is this if you are already spoofed the lite-on to a ben-q ect?

according to c4eva, the fw for the lite-on will not include a dump. You will have to retrieve your key, then prepare your firmware, then send a wipe command to the lite-on and then a write command for your firmware. So you will still need to extract the key to prepare the firmware with before you write it.

You will have to have some sort of rs-232 to TTL converter to dump your key and such.

Then you will be able to create the ixtreme firmware based off that. The flashing process will include an erase process and then a flash. Much like a Benq drive. This is why C4E has said that it won't be any harder to flash than a Benq drive.

Thats all we know for now.

The ETA for the flash on the liteon drive has now been confirmed as 24 December, so it has been done just waiting for the release now.

It is what you posted, but I can confirm this to be a 100% fact, I have conversed with Irez on the subject so I am comfortable with posting the information.

While we appreciate the enthusiasm and we aren't trying to get onto you for posting it, we are just asking you to repect what CoFree had asked when he started this thread. Thats all.

you can talk all you want about the lite-on.It should just be in a thread that you start.

the intention of the thread was for the staff and I to keep the members informed about the on going lite-on work.
That is why it was made a sticky thread.

We dont mind people posting most of the time,but we could/can see that everyone is getting worked up over the lite-on fix (me included)

Don't take it personal,but we work hard to keep the threads clean and on track.
