USB Linux installs

Post by BobSeager »

Ubuntu 8.10 has a new built in feature to auto-install the OS to a bootable USB flash drive and automagically makes it persistent. This is a very useful feature for people who want to play around with a portable OS. For other distributions you can check out pendrivelinux.com to see how to make your own. Most of the guides are step-by-step walkthroughs so it shouldn't be too bad with a little linux terminal experience. The persistent installs are different from live-cds in that they will allow you to save all the changes you make to the enviornment, which is my biggest gripe about live-cds.

Posting this came about after I stumbled across this -http://www.flashpcs.com/

Scroll down a little bit to see their fantastic prices... essentially they are charging $80 for a 1gb POS flash drive and 5 minutes of work
