Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
I tried to dump the FW and it said "lit-ofw.bin does not exist"

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
You can't dump the firmware itself. You have to get the key.bin, identity.bin and the inquiry.bin and let it build a dummy.bin and then it will build the hacked firmware. Then you can flash it.

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
My wording was wrong, what I meant to say was I tried to dump the key, identify and inquiry by booting up into iPrep, typing dLit 1234567 12345, followed the instructions, and that's what I got after I did the whole eject tray, cut power, close half way, power on. I made sure I had my spear in the right place and all. I also downloaded iPrep and the FW again but it didn't work.
edit: I'm reinstalling the drivers for the Xtractor now. I'll report back.

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
as soon as the computer is booted up in dos hook everything up.
com cable, sata and turn on the power.
if you have more than 1 com port you have to be on the right one.
and
i had to play around with the tray the first one i did.
with mine it was more than half way in.
more like 2/3 the way in.

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
When I hooked the Xtractor up it said COM 4, so that's what I'm using. Hmm, maybe my Sata isn't enabled (although would that matter for this first step?)
edit: when I push the eject button, the tray doesn't eject right away. I have to hit eject a second time. Is that normal?

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
only if your eject is in the wrong spot to start with.
does it always take 2 pushes like the modeb or did that just happen one time
i would think com4 would be a usb port
all the serial port ive seen are com 1 and com 2 if there are 2 of them.

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
It always takes 2 pushes, is there a way to fix that? And hmm, it did say COM4 when I installed the USB drivers, so maybe it is COM1. However, I did try COM1 before in iPrep and got the same error message. In addition to the error "lit-OFW.bin does not exist" I also get an error "Key.bin does not exist"
edit: found out how to disable mode b, now Ill try to do it with COM1

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
Nope, same error. Man this is really getting to me. Maybe I should try the Jungleflasher/DOS way?
Does it matter if modeb is enabled or no?
edit: and after I push the drive a little more than halfway in and put the power back on, the drive stays halfway in. That's right, right?

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
dont mess with jungle it is know at this point to have a bug or two.
the light should be blue NOT red
it should not be in modeb for this.
it dont sound like you have even got in the dvd drive yet.
the first thing it will get is the 3 files key and all.
you have to be on the right port on your sata card.
you have to have the com1 rs232 right
start over for the start make the boot drive and all.
first check and make sure it is still in working order and playing orig games.
that is right man
i dont know about that kind of kit ive not used one but i dont see where it should be any different than the ck3 kit

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
I'm at a loss. It plays games fine. No clue what the heck I'm doin wrong...

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
well then your computer is not seeing the drive for one reason or another.
im just not sure where to go from here
ive not even messed with a probe yet
if it is not making contact with the point then you would not be able to get any info from the drive

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
I got my key, inquiry, and bin from jungleflash just to see if I could do it. Would you recommend tryin to do dosflash now or no?
edit: What's the difference between jungleflasher and iPrep? Jungleflasher uses USB to get the key, and iPrep uses the COM port? And where does the Sata come in? Because if iPrep uses COM, maybe I just have my COM stuff messed up...
Also, I noticed in iPrep that the primary port for my Sata controller is C460, but when I get the key from jungleflasher I use C470

that is your problem right there you are on the wrong portstick person wrote:Also, I noticed in iPrep that the primary port for my Sata controller is C460, but when I get the key from jungleflasher I use C470
no do not do half and half.
it can cause some trouble.
the only way i would do that is if you try it in jungle and it locks up.
but
i would not do that
keep playing around with iprep till it works.

Re: Flashing liteon with Maximus Xtractor
you dont fix it you just have to find the right one
wait what did you use to get the key a usb port
you have to find your serial com port for iprep
