Benq flashing help

Post by marshm68 »

Hello,

What I am using:
EVGA 750i ftw motherboard, which I believe is has a compatible chipset.
Powering the cd drive while it is in the xbox (no ck3) and hooking up the sata to my computer
USB drive for flashing
Benq Drive

Problem:
I can successfully create the iprep boot USB, do a dBen (reading and backing up), and get to the part where it says it has successfully backed up your original firmware and created the new iextreme firware with the correct key. However, when I type fBen ####### #####, it will get to the part where it asks to resend the mtk, I hit y, it flashes between 0x51 and 0xD1, I power my xbox off through power button, it continues to flash between two numbers (I can't remember exactly what they are but I think they are the same as the previous, 0x51 and 0xD1), I turn my xbox back on, and it still just flashes between 0x51 and 0xD1. No matter how long I power it off for, it just keeps flashing between these numbers. After a while of just flashing, I hit abort (escape). It scrolled through some stuff fast, asked me to name a new firmware, ask me the port of my dvd drive, and asks me if i want to read (r) or write (w), and asked me if i wanted to do yes or no for the magic23 thing (These did not occur in the order of which I listed them). It then erased the current firmware on my xbox and rewrote it with a new firmware. However, I don't know if this firmware is actually iextreme (since I aborted after the mtk would not respond and just keep flashing between 0x51 and 0xD1) or just the original. What exactly just happened and how can I get past the mtk flashing between 0x51 and 0xD1. Also, if it helps at all, I tried flashing both my Benq drive and my friends Benq drive and the same exact thing happened to both of them, the flashing between 0x51 and 0xD1.

Thank you very much and sorry if this has been answered somewhere else. I'm kinda new to the whole xbox flashing thing and need some guidance.

it sounds like a problem with your chipset, I got stuck in the same place with an Intel ICH7 chipset...

One thing you can try is leaving the drive on during the flash. With my nforce board, I don't have to power the drive off at all. If you can 't get any further I would order a VIA card, saves getting a headache ;)

make sure that the power is being cut off.
i have read that the ck3 for some reason is not cutting the power completely off.
make sure there is no power to that drive.
if you got a good read and firmware
the only thing that is going on now is you are not getting it in debug mode.

I'm not using a ck3 though, I have my xbox powering the drive. Is it possible that with the power cable plugged in the back of the xbox and the xbox turned off, the drive is still getting power? In other words, should I press the power button on the xbox to turn the drive off, or should I pull the power plug out of the back of the xbox?

i dont think you can do it with the 360 as power.
it take over the controll of the dvd drive as soon as you turn on the power.

you can on the other dvd drives but not the lite-on

with you should get the via6421 card
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

but it the same thing with the new iprep
when you power the xbox back on it takes controll of the dvd drive
i dont think doing it that way is going to work man.

Hmmm, I'm still not sure if the drive is actually flashed or not. It went through the steps of erasing and writing, but it was after I aborted the mtk resend, and I'm not sure if it erased it and rewrote it with the original FW again. Is there any way to tell if the current firmware on the drive is ixtreme 1.5?

dump it again
then open that dump with firmware toolbox and it will tell you what it is.
you can open it with jungle flasher also.
