How to recover firmware from Hitachi 0079FL SST39VF020 firmw

Hi Guys i need as much help as i can get here i have a mate who has dropped his drives off to me asking for me to recover firmware of both the listed drives, is this at all possibel is there some software i can use or are they both bricked the drives have never been flashed just faulty??? i am desperate as i have told me mate i will give it a good go any help gratefully recieved thanks in advance for all the help kindest regards stuart

there is no reason to recover the firmware
you can get a copy of the orig firmware from those dvd drives here

but
if you need the key from those dvd drive
that is a different story.
first i would just dump them and see what was on them.
there is a way to recover the key from the hit flash by taking the chip off the dvd drive main board and using a programmer
getting the key.
I dont know any one that will do this for you.
Its a big job and a pain in the backside.
you can just buy a new console (it would cost less)

the benq is different if you need that key
its over the console is bricked.
after it does the erase its a clean drive
there is no recover

thanks for that matey what prog ram do i use to dumb the drives i have a sata VIA 6421 card in pc and connectivity kit any idea dude then when i have dumped it what am i looking for the key ???

Gyou got it stuzza. Lots have changed since the old hitachi's and samsungs. Even the newest drives, the lite-ons are different. Lots to keep up on, LOL. But once you do it, it's not that bad.

matey still cant remember how to save the dumped files and where they get saved from the iprep ?? any ideas matey ??

Your firmware is saved in the backups folder on your iprep flash, you'll have OFW and CFW....

Check that key with fwtoolbox while your in windows
