Benq 0800 firmware for backing up.

Post by CoFree »

Ok guys.

I flash the new 0800 firmware in my benq dvd drive.
then got it to mount to windows.I had a hard time with this .i had to power on the computer on then at the windows start up screen when the bar is going across i plugged in the sata.(the power to the drive was on)
It then mounted to windows fine. (A big thanks to Sadalius for the help)
I was able to get a backup of my game.
then reflash back to my hacked v1.4 firmware.

The best part about this is it was all done through a blaster v1.
That make it easy flashing back and froth.
Im going to make a guide for this soon.

TAKE NOTE: Not everyone will have the same results as CoFree had. Myself have 0 problems doing this. Some people has all kinds of problems ranging from locking up while in windows, freezing at the point where your sata controller is scanning for sata devices and sometimes you get it to work, but everything seems to be at a crawl. And yes, sometimes, it just don't work at all for ya.

It's real easy. Just make sure you have a current dump of your drive. Then flash the 0800 firmware to the drive. Then use as a kreon drive. When you want to use it in your 360 again, just re-flash your current dump.

Of course if you have a spare benq, you wouldn't need to worry about dumping the firmware and reflashing it. You could use it as a full time Kreon type drive.

Just for the record, we are talking about the regular BenQ drive, right?--to use it in 0800 mode (if you don't have a Kreon drive) for ripping? This has nothing to do with the new BenQ LiteOn drive and flashing it, right?

Thanks CoFree, once I download this I just follow the same process to include my original firmware in the folder before I flash, just like putting the 1.5 iextreme firmware when I originall flashed it? I have an opportunity to get a RROD 360 for 20 bucks so I was planning to use that to rip the games.

build your iprep boot flash
then open it up and put the o8oo firmware in the backup in that folder make a folder named the first 7 of your ser .
in that folder make a folder named the last 5 of your ser.
in there put the 0800 firmware rename it. bincfw.bin
then boot off your flash and go to the flash ben step.
and it will flash in the 0800 firmware.
dont do this unless you know you have a good key from that drive.
if you dont have a good key
start at the beginning and dump the drive first.
