Upgrading from an old firmware.

Post by scoot3r90 »

I was wondering, since someone asked me to upgrade their firmware from 1.4 to 1.5, how do you update the firmware? Do you just start over as if it was stock firmware? Do I have to extract the key and inject it into the new firmware? Please help. It would be good if there were instructions for all drives just in case I need to do it for someone in the future.

No someone else flashed it for him, so now he has no original file. Is there a way still?

well more info is needed
what dvd drive is it.
if it a sam or a benq
you just flash it just like it was orig(stock)
build the iprep boot flash
dump/firmtool will build the hacked firmware then flash.
this time make sure to keep and/or give him a copy of his key for safe keeping.

if it a hit dvd drive you have to run the restore on it first
then you start over and flash it again
