samsung ix1.4 upgrade questions

i have a samsung drive, currently flashed with 5.2 i think...the old stuff
i plan on upgrading to 1.4 but have a few questions

iv been scouring the web and have yet to find information on how to flash a samsung with dosflash
is dosflash like the new mtkflash?
whats the difference btw dosflash16 and dosflash32?
what commands do i use to dump/flash? or do i just follow the instructions once i boot into dos?
with dosflash, do i still need to disable firmgaurd? can i do that with the bad flash method? or is it worth just going ahead and using a 0800 disc?

i left the scene when dosflash came into play so im kinda confused about it and all the information on it seems to be for benq's! so im not sure if it all applies to samsungs as well. help is much appreciated

just use iprep 101 v006
to flash the drive

ok, so iprep formats the usb to make it bootable AND flashes the dvd drive...easy enough

but that still leaves the question: b/c im using the old fw, do i need to manually disable the firmgaurd or does iprep take of that?

once you boot on the usb flash do what it says on the screen
you will be using the 10 sec trick to get in the drive.

how can i do whats on the screen and the 10 sec trick at the same time?

the screen says turn on: turn off for two seconds: then turn on again
and thats what they did in the benq/samsung iprep video tutorial
so, where in there am i suppose to select drive, then wait for 10 seconds to turn on?

is this right?
-boot into dos with iprep
-agree to disclaimer
-type "y" and hit enter
-wait 10 secs (bad flash recovery), then turn on 360
-wait for D1 to flash, then turn off for 2 seconds
-then turn it back on

thats the only way i could think to do it, but that doesnt seem to make much sense,

what are you talking about
there is no 2 sec on the samsung. that is the benq flash.i bet you loaded the wrong firmware or in the wrong slot in iprep
its a 10 sec trick

the samsung dont have a di flash it just starts dumping after the 10 sec trick
that video is for the benq but the samsung is close to that.
i guess im doing a video for the samsung now.

lol, thats why i made this post. so much info on the benq and i wasnt sure if it all applied to samsungs
i know to use samsung fw in the samsung slot.
what do you mean "di flash," im guessing that was a typo

do i have this right yet? i wouldnt worry about making a video, especially seeing how rare sammies are becoming.
but some thing like: "the samsung is similiar to the benq but...." after the benq tutorial would be great

you have to have the drive on for the samsung.

you guys just wait until more ppl find out about this site, the forums are going to get bogged down with noobs like me
but keep up the great tutorials and i cant imagine it becoming too much of a problem.
