Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
Yeah, a usb stick, jump drive, thumb drive, USB flash drive, anyhow you want to call it. You could even use a floppy disk if you wanted to.

Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
ok mate thanks...ill have a look at it...ive been at this for nearly 6 hours..lol...i just realised something....i had to take the via card out of the pc downstairs which had a serial port, although i coudnt get it work via the iprep method , therfor e i had to take via card out.......and put it into my other pc upstairs....just to get this far, however my pc upstairs hasnt got a serial port......so would i need to take the via card out and go and put it in the pc downstairs again in order to finish off the flashing via dosfalsh as in the vid...?....hope you understand what i mean..lol
Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
For the flashing part, all you need is a sata connection. The only thing you need the serial ports for is getting the key.bin, inquiry.bin and identify.bin files. So no, you wouldn't need to move it back.
If the computer you used to get those files didn't have a serial port, how did you get those files, USB or something?

It doesn't matter what version iprep you use. All your wanting to do is make the USB flash drive bootable. Then put the DOS folder in the drive and put your hacked firmware file in the DOS folder. Then boot to it and then flash that drive.

Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
hi mate i done that...got to the last part of writing the banks....it is stuck on "writing bank A"......i would prefer to use the same iprep version as in the video....why you ask ?......because when i was making the bootable flash drive using iprep 8,,,i follwed the vid exactly....however when i came to copy the contents of the dos folder in the ixtrem1.5 firmware....it said "dosflah" already exists would you like to overwrite it ?...i choose yes and now im stuck.......also after getting rid of all the files to do with dos in the video...my usb stick had less files the cofrees, as in the vid....my pc is stuck on "flashing bank A"...somethings gone wrong...so can you tell me what version that cofree is using i cant find it anywhere...?..gonna call it a night now...doing my head in..will continue tommorrow...who said it takes 10 mins to flash a liteon,..,more like 10 hours.. lolsadalius wrote:It doesn't matter what version iprep you use. You can download it from xbins. But the version of iprep really doesn't matter as your not using iprep after you boot to the USB flash drive. Your using dosflash.

Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
Look through our 360 download section, I think there is a download for the xbins autodownloader. You can use that to get the older versions of iprep. The only difference would be if you accidentally deleted one of the dos files that were on the flash drive, but if you did that, it wouldn't boot at all. When you flash a lite-on it shouldn't talk about bank A, it numbers the banks 0-3 for a total of 4 banks. Are you sure you selected the right drive through dosflash? When you turned the drive off and sent the MTK vendor commands and then turned the drive back on, did it return the correct drive ID information?

You would have to update the iprep definitions before that version will load the 1.5 firmware. Sorry, I should have said something. You should be able to use the update feature in iprep to do that with. If not, download them from here:

You have to click the download now button towards the top of the page. But here is a direct download link for the definitions:
