Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
guys..im having problem flashing this drive through dos...hers the situation, ive got the key, identify and enquiry files...made the dummy bin and have built the liteon CFW....all these are saftely backed up........now when i use ipre v8 to flash the drive.....do i :
1. load all the firmwares ? (basically follow the cofree iprep v8 video tut...) and create the boot flash drive
2. before i boot off the usb flash drive , it shows in the vid that cofree removes all dos related items...which ones do i remove?.....i have removed what is shown in the video...ie the dsam, fsam, rsam...etc..., what else do i remove ?
3. i copy the liteon CFW that i built onto the root of the usb stick.
4. i also copy the contects of the dos folder which is in the ixtreme1.5 firmware folder...to the root of the usb flash ...now this is where i get the message that " DOSFLASH ALREADY EXITS..OVERWRITE ?..Y/N"...do i overwrite it or leave it as it is ?
5. i boot off the usb flash....and follow the vid accordingly......right at the end it just hangs up on "writing bank A".....
This is the only drive that is connected on my pc..i have completely disconnected my HP and PIONEER DRIVES...the port setting is correct as well...need to sort this out ASAP, as the kids want thier xbox back..lol...regards
if all that fails...will this work here:

The easiest thing to do here is to not delete anything after making the USB flash drive bootable. Don't copy everything to the root of the flash drive. Instead, copy the whole DOS folder to the flash drive, then copy your hacked firmware into the DOS folder.
Then boot to the flash drive. When you get to dos, type "CD DOS" without the quote and hit enter. Then do the l-o-eras till you get a 72 status and follow the rest of the video.

I can't remember if you have to load all the firmwares with that version of iprep or not. You don't have to with 8.8, just which ever one your dealing with. But load whatever firmware it will let you get by with because thats not important. What is important is that you copy the entire DOS folder from the ixtreme 1.5 package to the flash drive and then copy your hacked firmware that you made into the DOS folder on the flash drive. Then once you boot to the flash drive CD into the DOS folder and follow the video from there.
I think what was happening before is when you were trying to copy the contents of the DOS folder to the root of the flash drive and it was asking you to overwrite or not, you chose no and you were using an old version of dosflash which can't flash the lite-on. So if you just copy the entire DOS folder to the drive with the hacked firmware in the folder and you boot to it then and make sure that your in the DOS directory and run the commands from there, I think you'll be successful. Man, I wish you were in the USA. I could really help you out if you were.

ok mate...just gonna do it now...one thing...my drive has no power to it...cant eject or anything..is that normal...i think its erased the fimware.?
Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
Yeah, if you've ran the erase, the yeah, it's erased and it not ejecting is normal because there is no firmware to accept the eject command or other higher functions. The flash should still work because that logic is contained on a different chip.
