Need a little info

I've been thinking about getting a PS3 with my tax money, but I'm not sure if I will or not for sure. I was looking around on the gamestop web site and I noticed they has a 80 GB ps3 for 399, but they also listed a PS3 80GB HD for 429. Whats the difference in the two systems if any??

well the first gen 80gb with 4 usb slots (the one which costs more) has backwards compatibility with most ps2 games, though it's through software emulation, where as the original 60gb ps3 has ps2 bc through hardware with the emotion chip from ps2 which in turn makes all ps2 games work on it.

the second gen (aka current one) has no ps2 BC whatsoever, and only has 2 usb slots and no media card readers.

i think that should clear things up for you sad, if not just ask. lol.

I meant to post, but yeah, CoFree and I called up gamestop and pestered them about it and they explained it to us, LOL!!!
