CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
Hey, I just recieved my CK3 lite yesterday and was getting ready to try and flash my Lite-on, so I hooked up my CK3 lite and noticed that it doesnt seem to be powering or ejecting my lite on drive, I get my red light when I click the eject button but nothin happens, plus im not sure if this usually happens but the little chip thingy below the ON/OFF switch gets so hot that i burnt my finger lol...I have also tried my CK3 with a hitachi drive and it powers and ejects it perfectly, i cant test it on any others since i dont have any but a hitachi and lite-on...the lite-on drive also works perfect, ejects, and reads games fine when it is in the console... I have also nerver got it in the flashing stage on the computer yet so I no i didnt screw anything up there....so anybody havin similar problems or no how to fix this issue
Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
the lite should be blue on all drives but the hit
red shows that you have put the dvd drive(hit) in modeB

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
thanks for the reply, im not to familer with connectivity kits so i wasnt sure on the color of the led, but im still not getting anything from the drive, i tried it with the led blue then clicking the eject switch and i have tried it with the led off then when i click the eject button the led goes blue.....so since i have not idea what im doing lol, are there any certain steps i should be taking as far as the button possition goes....should the blue led turn on when i tound my kit on or only when i click my eject button....and another thing i have noticed is that if i dont click my ON/OFF switch fast enough my computer will turn off when i power on my kit....any help on this one guys.

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
As cofree said it should be blue (modeb off) or Red (modeb on) as long as its connected to a molex, switched on and the pc turned on (if you have the molex attached to one of your internal molex's). The only thing i can think of is that you might have accidentally inserted the dvd power lead in upside down (the green lead) into the liteon but you would have probably smelt it burning as there might be a chance it would have fried your drive. The red light shouldnt flash on when you're ejecting as it should be solid blue at all times unless you have the ck3 turned off (all led's off). Fingers crossed its just something easy though. Does it still work when you put it back into the 360 as that would discount it being fried?
For the pc cutting off when you turn the ck3 on it's definatly your power supply. Hook it up to a spare atx (cheers for that cofree)if you have one and problem solved. Just found this out after 8 hours of swearing at my ck3

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
That sounds so odd as if mines turned on the blue led is constantly lit (or the red one if i have clicked it onto modeb) pushing eject doesn't change the led at all. Sounds like a problem with either your molex power supply or your ck3 as it should definatly be showing a blue led as long as its switched on and powered. Thats so weird. Have you tried disconnecting the molex from one of your pc's dvd drives or something and using that?

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
hey, we its starting to sound like a problem with my kit by the sound of things, but yet it works with my hitachi drive...and yes its wierd how my led is off untill i click the eject button....and as far as my power supply goes i unplugged everything from the computer except thye leads goin to the motherboard so i can get the power to go to my kit....i dont have an extra molex around so i cant really try another at this time...but i might be able to find one by tomorrow sometime and be able to tell if thats the problem which it could possibly be...or is there a way i can power my kit without having to use my computer to get my molex power going...and would my molex effect my led problem im having....great support by the way, i hope we can resolve this

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
You could unplug the power supply and remove it from your pc then bridge the green wire with the adjoining black one on the 20 pin connector which normally plugs into your motherboard as that would let you power on the atx supply. If that fails i'd say it would be your ck3 at fault but if its working with other drives it would seem unlikely. Gotta be something we're missing.
I used a metal clip to bridge the points in my spare power supply to get it to turn on

Does it light up correctly if you don't have the liteon attached at all to the ck3? I'm still thinking that it could be plugged upside down. Yeah i know i'm grasping at straws...hah

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
The connection joining the green wire to the adjacent black on the long 20 pin plastic connector which is usually connected to your motherboard? I just wedged a piece of wire into them and left it in to arc it out (turns off power pack if you remove it). I wouldnt cut them if you're planning on using the power pack again in your pc as you would have to rejoin them to get it to work.

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
It also does the same thing when the drive isnt attached....and looking at the connectors it can only go in all the way if it has the lips in the right possition, plus wouldnt my drive be a bit crispy if it was in upsaide down all this time lol....my drive still works and im pritty possitive the plugs are in rite...kinda scared to find out the hard way lol......k i have the 20 pin connector and there is only one green wire going into the connector but like 6 or 7 black wires going into the connector...when i touch them together with the wire then kit blink blu for a sec but wont stay blue i also dont get the led if i click the eject button either

Re: CK3 Lite and Lite-on problem
Its definitely your power pack or the ck3 at fault then and nothing to do with your liteon. I'd try the ck3 on another pc if you can get access to one to ascertain if its the power pack which is causing the problem. If the problem persists your ck3 is knackered (still strange how it was working on your other drive though, might be a dry joint or bad connection somewhere on the ck3 though so it could be intermittent) Got to be one or the other if you haven't got any drive attached to it. Fingers crossed
