Flashing Lite-on with Iprep floppy problem

Post by Strictly360 »

hey, ok after a day of trying to get my CK3 Lite working i got it to work, and now i want to flash my Lite-on with the new iprep, so i loaded my firmware, etc, and made a bottable floppy (my bios doesnt support usb boot cause im using and old computer that has a built in serial port)....everything goes good i get the iprep menu and input the command and my serial number...then after it asks me if my drive is on and connected to com 1 i click any key...a sec later i get a message saying "Cant Get Inquiry Data" then a bit after i get a hole bunch of files not found...and i havent got any error messages from iprep when making my bootable floppy...i have used iprep to do many BenQ drives on my new computer because of no need for a serial port but this is my first using a floppy and a lite-on...so any help on this 1 guys

Hey, no im not using a probe im just bridging the connection with a small flat headed screw driver, but i have not yet got to that step cause of the problem im having.....my computer is like a 99 i think...ya its pritty old but its the only computer i have with a serial port...and as i said before the bios doesnt lets me boot from a flash drive so i have to use a floppy...i also have a pci via chipset in the same computer with i have used before to flash many benQ's...are they any cirtain steps to take in order to make a floppy work or should it work just by picking it as my target drive in iprep like i have already done..

You can use a floppy, it just take a long time to work.
It just like useing a usb flash drive.

i had similar problem when i was flashing a lite-on drive today, i was using a usb drive though, however i did bridge the connection with a screwdriver, i eventually got it to work and the problem looked like the bridge wasn't making complete contact so make sure you're making complete contact and you're gonna have to prepare the floppy again because it probably says directory already exist when you try the dump again, i was getting the same errors because of that, so once you prep the floppy, then start over and make sure you have contact. . . hope that makes sense :|

This is how i managed to use my usb stick before i clicked on that my iprep wasn't booting due to my motherboard not supporting FAT32 booting only FAT: The workaround for me was to format it with hptool then copy the files over but i used this technique first

iprep your usb stick, boot from an msdos startup floppy and when you get to the a:\ prompt type in B:\ (that was what my stick was yours might be different) then type "dir" without the brackets to make sure the flit.bat etc are there then run it through command prompts the same as usual. Worked straight away and saved the files to the usb.
