What to do with my RROD 360
Last night I had a 360 to rrod. I want to know what to do with it. Video just lock up
and had to reset about 4 times and then rrod. I was thinking about sending back to microsoft
and just pay them to fix it. I`ve read about people reflowing or something.
I can try the X clamp fix.
I think microsoft charges about 80.00 to fix it.
I can get new for about 175.00 shipped when on sale.
What do you think is the best way to go?

Well I would just
"gut swap" it at a wal-mart.

That would be illegal and fraudulent. I don't recommend that and I don't think anyone else here would either. Right now you can buy an arcade through dell for $169 sh. Add $10 tax and you got yourself a brand new arcade for $180 sh.DarkSide wrote:Well I would just

Go to techbargains.com and scroll down to find the deal.

if the seal is still intact i would definately ring microsoft up and see what they say about the warrenty if its covered. i think they extended the warrenty for 3 years so check with them before doing anything, if its out of warrenty then i guess you could try x-clamp fix. its not a permanent fix but you could get it to work from a month to 6 months tops. if nothing works out you can always sell just the unit and get working one.

well
im of 2 minds on this.
cyantific
has a point.
just send it back or take it on the chin and buy a new one.
well you can try the x-clamp fix.it may work for a little anyway.

idea of a "gut swap" would be a type of fraud although it would work.
I guess it comes down to what you fill good with.
I do believe that the RROD is M$ full responsibly. you can bet that rrod console will in the end work its way back to M$.so the store stands little to lose.
I idea of me having to buy a new console because of RROD pisses me off to outer limits.Given the fact that they new it was going to happen. Then lied about it for over a year.
but
in the end its your call man
how you fix your console dilemma.

That what I`m going to do.
I was going to flash it back to org. frimware and send it to them. It was a old launch model xbox. I just buy a new one.
Cofree you are a 110% right.

That sound good, but I just can`t.DarkSide wrote:Well I would just

I think the best option for your box would be to send it in for a reballing. I haven't looked around but I have seen others talking that it cost around 35-50 dollars for this process, and its pretty much a done deal fix when it is done.

How long does it last? I might try that. Do you know anybody that good at reballing?

well
i am doubtful of a reball for $50.00
I have had more than one shop claim to reball but all they do/did was one kind of x-clamp or another.
I have looked into get a console reballed and it was around $125.00usd.That was from a site in Florida.

Re: What to do with my RROD 360
I had my very First Xbox sent out to have it reflowed in fixed, and I asked them to provide the xray pics of the reflow and they told me they couldn't cause it was a secret(lol) comeon man.Well after 120 dollars later, all it was is a x-clamp fix in I think there reflow was a Heat Gun.So now I just fix them myself same affect as the other places. And I only Charge 50 bucks. The site I used was out of NewyorkCoFree wrote:well

Re: What to do with my RROD 360
I'm very leery of places that offer re-ball services on the net. I mean if there a company that I can research, ummmm maybe. But if I can't research them or they can't offer proof that they actually re-ball and not x-clamp replace, I don't deal with them.
