Returned to the Wii

Post by cyantific »

Picked up a new Wii today expecting to find some epoxy and low and behold I did! I was pretty excited!

First application of paint stripper:

After some time letting it soak and using toothpicks to scrape it off:

Cleaned up a bit using rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Then wanted to make sure it still worked ;)

Feels good making epoxy your biznatch! Wiikeyv2 Yellow Sticker chip coming in this week. So look out for install pictures! Btw, Wii is at 3.3U! :)

Got pretty bored and my chip still hasn't been shipped yet so I went ahead and pre-soldered all of the wires to the board:

Power and GND connections: IDE ribbon cable strands
Other points: 30AWG Kynar Wire

Yes I know the wires are a bit long but I'll shorten them once I know where I want to position the chip for sure. Also I know the D2E chipsets with the silver ribbon cable are prone to eject issues so I want to fiddle with various positions if I need to.

Come on foundmy.com!! :? :(

Yeah I did but they were the cheapest including shipping

EDIT

Went ahead and ordered a batch from modchip.ca and they've all ready shipped it! Boy, that goes to show you don't choose a less reputable company because of their prices! (I have nothing against FoundMy but 5 days post-order and still the item has not been shipped? :o)

Got the 1 modchip today in from FoundMy which was actually sent from VGC Repairs (another company I've bought from in the past)..

Just laying down some solder onto the contact points on the chip
