Flashing BenQ using iprep v008.8

Can someone please HELP: I did everything in Cofree iprep v008.8 tutorial on YouTube step by step with flashing the Benq drive unto completion (Writing finished! DataSum), but when I put an original or a backup game I get the Xbox message (to play this disc put it in an Xbox 360). I don't know what I did wrong but the only thing I could think of is that I didn't use or have the connectivity kit and I don't know if this make a difference I am using Vista 32 bit. Please help this is killing me.

Did you verify your dump of the original firmware before flashing the drive? The only cause for these error that I know of is the drive having the wrong DVD key in it. If it had the wrong DVD key it the hacked firmware but had the right key in the original, you can use firmware toolbox to inject the key from the original firmware into the hacked firmware then reflash the drive to fix it.

However, if the original firmware has a bad key, then you've got a bricked drive. You'll be able to play movies, but thats it.

To check a firmware for a good key, open it with firmware toolbox. It will display the key in a box. It's 32 characters long and will appear as random characters and numbers. If it appears as all 0's or F's or has a lot of the same characters, then you can say the key is bad.

did you see the same thing that is on the screen
with a green success
if by chance you did not have a green and it was yellow or red then you may have a bricked dvd drive .

Sadalius, yes I verify that the dump of the original firmware before flashing the drive or at least I think . EXAMPLE (Erasing …ok! & Erasing finished!). How can I get the correct DVD key and I don’t understanding how to check if the original firmware has a bad key

Cofree, Yes my screen look exactully like the 3:20 mark and it was my first time and I didn’t power down my computer or made a copie of the orriginal firmware version because I didn’t understand how to do that. So after I plug it up and seen that message I tried again diong the same thing with the same rersults.

Also the Drive will play DVD movies and etc...

you need to open the "ofw" and the "cfw"
that is in the backup folder on the flash drive.
open them one at the time and you are looking for a good key
use jungle flash and then open source file.

Where can I go to find the Jungle Flasher that is compatible with the BenQ ixtreme 1.5 firmware, I read that jungleFlasher 0.0.43 Beta is not compatible with ixtreme 1.5 firmware.

at this point i have not used jungle flasher to flash any drive BUT a lite-on.

i would use iprep 8.8 to flash a benq or a samsung

I haven't used jungleflasher to do a Benq, but I have used it on samsungs, and it's great in my opinion. Benq's are supposed to work just as good with jungleflasher and yes, the firmware is compatible with jungle flasher. You can get jungleflasher, it comes with the ixtreme 1.5 package for your drive.

This might sound a little stupid, but I had the same problem with a BenQ. My BenQ drive was reading originals just fine, but after flashing it the drive would not read games anymore, both kinds. So, thinking that i had bricked the drive, I applied the DVD pot teak and boom! it worked like a charm!. IMHO I don't think you bricked your DVD drive. Just to make sure, do what Sadalius and Cofree told you about checking the key before you attempt any fixes. It is also quite possible that your DVD laser lens is too weak and you might need to replace it.

BTW I think there is a tutorial on how to teak the DVD pot in the tutorial section in this forum. Give it a go...you got nothing to loose though.

i would try the pot tweak last
if it was reading before the flash it should read after the flash.

I would say make sure you have a good key in your ofw. You can check this with jungle flasher or FWtoolbox both available here.

You are looking for a key that is unique (not all 0000's or FFFFF's). Also check the key in the cfw matches....

Once you know that's right, go for the pot tweak
