Why so many Combinations?

I think all of us know that MS releases tons of different xbox combinations in regards to what motherboard/drive combo/firmware you get in your X360. Why do you think that is??? My feeling is that they are trying to find the combination that results in the least amount of returns/RRODs. It's crazy because the manufacturing date on these that people are reporting are only a few weeks old, that means they are really churning them out of the factory.

i think most of it is a money thing and speed.
make them cheap and with what is on hand.

And it's because they are really churning them out that causes so many different combinations. It would be impossible for one single supplier to keep up with the demand, so MS contracts two, three, four or more different companies to supply their needs. Then when production needs slow down, or can be kept up with, they scale back on the most expensive companies to just a couple of the cheaper companies. It's the law of supply and demand in action.
