Apple filed a formal motion with the US Copyright Office, expectedly, people laughed at them.

"Current jailbreak techniques now in widespread use [utilizes] unauthorized modification to the copyrighted bootloader and OS, resulting in infringement of the copyright in those programs," Apple said.

Update: Cydia, Mozilla, Skype and Others Join EFF in Jailbreak Fight

All three have filed comments with the U.S. Copyright office supporting the Electronic Frontier Foundation's request for an exemption to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act who's goal is to allow Jailbreakers to not have any fear of possible legal Jailbreaking ramifications even though Apple claims that Jailbreaking is illegal.

Yeah, I'm glad to see that they have spoken up in this. Maybe we'll be seeing some apps like firefox and others for the iphone/ipod touch soon.

I'm getting the Samsung Eternity... I have the choice, but too many stupid issues with the iPhone and don't care for the data plan.

Are you getting a data plan at all? (the Eternity doesn't have wifi). The main reason I got an iPhone was it was the first phone that had a big screen and a good browser+wifi. That was the critical part because like you, I wasn't going to pay for a data plan.

The Eternity does look nice tho.

Reason I dont want another iPhone, simple. BATTERY LIFE!

I had an iPhone for a while, but decided to sell it because the battery life sucks so bad... I was forced to charge it the moment I got home each day. I couldn't play games on it because I wouldn't have enough battery to last me the rest of the day.
