the lite-on drive. i get to where it tries to extract key just like your vid i watched on tube. but when it tries to extract it, it says invalid key. this is the first time i have ever tried to do this and it was going pretty smooth until then.

I believe he's trying to do a lite-on. Check your connections. Are you using a serial cable or RS-232 cable? If your using a com port, check that your on the right com port and also check your cable. If your using the USB cable with jungleflasher, again, check to make sure that your on the right com port.

well i am usint sata cable just like in vids. and yes it is right port and cause it shows up after i selct serial device. Everything was fine til the extract key part. what is funny is that i thought i had a benq drive. and when i tried to flash it it just stayed at D52 or whatever that is. So i thought to myself "self maybe you have a lite-on. sure enough i do. like i said everything is fine up to the key extraction. says invalid key

Are you using a ck3 with a probe or soldered 707 points?

What are you using to get the key, a CK3, 360 xtractor or something else? If your using a CK3 or 360 xtractor, are you using the probe or spear that goes with them or are you soldering R707?

EDIT: I guess Dalecheesy beat me to the punch, LOL!!

Neither I was told I wouldn't need anything but the software to flash it. But then again that is wehen I thought it was Benq so maybe I gotta buy something else. I am noobish at this. I mean I know my way around a PC really well so I thought I could do this. When I watched the vids, I was watching vids on the Benq and noone had any solder or anything. Just iPrep and all that which I have already. When the fw came up it said someones method of key extractin. Then told me to open drive half way and all that. I did so. First time it said it failed which is cause I didnt have the drawer closed enough (you actually have to close it more that half way I guess). Then I closed it more and boom sayd key invalid.

No mate to dump a Liteon you'll either need a ck3/maximus or a homemade ttl and you will either need to use a probe (official or homemade) or solder the 707 points. Its also worthwhile purchasing a Via 6421 card as it can save all the problems of an incompatible onboard sata chipset. Plus if you're going to use iprep for the flash you will need an R232 cable to go with the ck3. (the Lite version comes with one but the pro comes with a usb cable but the facility to add one)

Heres a video which explains the process: viewtopic.php?f=195&t=3617" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you don't want to buy all the stuff (CK3 and VIA card) just wait till 1.51 or 1.6 comes out and I'll hook you up. But yeah, you have to have some sort of ttl converter to get the key and such from a lite-on. The commands that tells the drive to dump the key and other files needed to create the hacked firmware goes across a serial connection but then gets dumped down the sata channel. Thats why your getting invalid key my friend.
