new wii's unsoftmoddable

some very new wii's (yes still 3.4) cannot be softmodded through any traditional current methods.

hbc channel will install but further installation of necessary wads results in blackscreen.

a few over at gba have confirmed this.


really sucks for me, as we're just about to buy one, hopefully i can steer clear of these.


any suggestions guys ? thinking if i don't get a lu6xx wii i should be good.

You could look at buying one off ebay, you should be able to find an older one there pretty easy.

Can you not downgrade to 3.2 using the patched WADInstaller?

I managed to do one from 3.3, but I haven't had one for a bit, so I'm not sure...

yesterday i did the twilight hack and i was running 3.2U at the time, and the WADinstaller lets you downgrade. So that is an option.

I know what Digital Menace is saying. 3.4 was released basically to stop softmodding, but I'm sure there is a workaround with a version of WadInstaller that works off a different CIOS to the other one (I know that won't be easy to get hold of though, the CIOS it works off is official nintendo software...).
